A Phoenix woman used a steak knife to stab an acquaintance after he sexually assaulted her, according to Phoenix police. On October 14, officials were called to a home near 27th Avenue and Baseline Road. When they arrived, they found 27-year-old Geovani Ledesma with a stab wound to his ribs. The woman who stabbed Ledesma reportedly accused him of following her to a hotel where she was with another man. Ledesma and the man got into an altercation. Ledesma then left. Later that night, the woman and Ledesma began arguing at a house about the hotel incident, when he allegedly pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. The victim managed to push Ledesma off her and move toward a door. As she walked, she picked up a steak knife with a 6-inch blade. Court paperwork says Ledesma reacted by putting up his hands. The woman then reportedly stabbed him in the ribs before leaving the house. Police say the wound was about 4-5 inches deep but was non-life-threatening. Ledesma was arrested for sexual assault at the hospital the next day.If you or someone you know is the victim of domestic or sexual violence, there are several local and national organizations offering resources.
